Halloween Fun Facts!!!

HALLOWEEN FUN FACTS
Costume parties, scary stories around the bonfire, carving pumpkins & lots of candy – all kids love Halloween for these reasons. But did you know that this holiday traces its origins more than 2000 years back when it marked the beginning of the Celtic New year? Let’s look at some fun facts for this spooky festival
  1. Halloween is the modern form of a 2000 years old Celtic festival called Samhain (pronounced as SAH-wen) which was celebrated at the end of summer harvest.
2.  people believed that during Samhain, a door was opened from the underworld and it let the spirits or ghosts into our world so they would put out food and drinks in front of their homes for the spirits and ghosts – this is what evolved into trick-or- treating
3.  Original  trick-or-treaters received mostly fruits and nuts not candy.
4.  The first Jack O’ Lanterns were made out of turnips & not pumpkins
5.  The word witch comes from the old saxton word “wica” meaning “wise one.”
6.  Believing that spirits and ghosts roamed the land on All Hallows' Eve, the ancients Celts wore costumes and masks to avoid detection by these ghosts.  They would often go from house to house enjoying each other’s food and drinks.
7.  Magician Harry Houdini (1847-1926) died on Halloween night.
8.  Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween.
  1. Black cats were once believed to be witch's assistants who protected their powers.
10.The name Jack-o'-lantern originated from English folklore. The name refers to the flame of the light which was also known as "will-o'-the-wisp" or "foolish fire"

Relive your childhood with Max & Ruby!

Hey remember the time when you were kids? The joys to be found in the littlest of things, new experiences, new places to explore & a new adventure each day! Such is also the world of Max & Ruby. This cute & cuddly brother-sister duo are bunnies who learn something new in the everyday. Based on stories written by Rosemary Wells, these 2 bunnies are loosely based on Rosemary’s own kids with the very same names 😊
Max is a three year old bunny who is determined and energetic by nature whereas bunny Ruby is his older sister who’s seven and is composed, focused and caring. The series beautifully portrays the brother-sister sibling bond with Ruby often trying to protect Max by deciding what’s best for him & in the process discovering something wonderful through Max’s unstructured play. The unique & innovative storylines ensure that the kids learn something new with each story while the contrasting characters often subtly convey the necessity of engaging children in both structured & unstructured environments.

So be sure to introduce your kids to these adorable bunnies & their very special world. Now available for the first time in Hindi.
